Prada Resort 18
The Resort collections of powerhouses like Prada, Chanel and Gucci serve to sate the fashion appetite before the SS18 shows start. They also give us a sneak peak of some of the trends we will be be drooling over in 12 months time...
The Prada resort 2018 collection definitely got us going ... it started of back to black with compartmentalised structures and thick nylon fabric representing the origins of Prada and their initial popular designs, accessorised with hand sizes clutches and classic belts (all black) to eventuate the female waist. Bardot style overcoats were sexed up with delicate lace bralettes on display – because who wants to wear a dowdy plain pea coat?!
The collection then moved on to softer chiffon materials -layered mini dresses with voluminous ruffles in lighter colours and pastels, still with structured panels but soften with the detail of feathers. All girls had a super cute school-girl vibe with knee length socks and neatly plaited pig tails. Head to toe floral looks made for delicate Japanese style suits, sprinkled with sequins at the neckline.
The collection was shown at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele which houses Prada’s first ever store, so it was naturally only right to pay homage to some of Prada’s heritage.
Mans gotta represent.
